*** May 2024 Updates and Announcements ***
Gallery Reception on May 18th - featuring the Spring 2024 Artist in Residence, Madeleine Grace Kelly
This show will be a celebration of Madeleine Grace Kelly and the many stunning pieces of art she has created, as her four weeks of being the Spring Artist in Residence comes to an end.
There will also be local artist's work on display, as well as refreshments, and live music by Ray Bevitori.
From 4:00 -7:00 pm., in the Shelter Cove Art Gallery at the Inn of the Lost Coast, 205 Wave Drive, Shelter Cove.
Children's Garden and Playground
The Children's Garden and Playground was busy a few days ago, as children (and parents) were planting sunflower seeds and popcorn seeds now that Spring is here. The children had a lot of fun planting and when done, playing on the garden's hopscotch and other playthings!
Free Art Workshops
SCARF sponsored two free community art workshops late April, with Darcie Maasen and Venessa Kay teaching the classes. The workshops were focused on skills related to watercolor painting, and were the first in a series of four more that will be offered for free this summer. More details will be announced as they become available.
SCARF was successful in getting a grant from the Ink People Center for the Arts to cover the cost of these workshops and we thank them. There are no costs to the public to take the workshops.
Art Show on June 1st - featuring Donna Attar
At the Inn of the Lost Coast, 205 Wave Drive, Shelter Cove - in the Shelter Cove Art Gallery.

Who are We?
The Shelter Cove Arts and Recreation Foundation (SCARF) was established in 2012 with the mission of improving the quality of life in Shelter Cove by offering art and recreational experiences. We have a volunteer board of directors, and we plan to hold one public meeting a year to gather input relating to arts and recreation in our community.
There are no membership dues. All children's classes are free of charge, and adult classes may include a material fee.
Our Accomplishments
Since our inception, we have developed a softball field, three nature and exercise trails, an Art Gallery, and sponsored the Plein Air at the Lost Coast event for three consecutive years from 2014 - 2016.
In 2019 we partnered with the Bureau of Land Management to sponsor the Artist in Residence Program. The program has been ongoing since 2019, however due to COVID, we were unable to host the event in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The program resumed in 2023. Click here for more info.
In 2022 the Children's Garden and Playground was completed.
In 2023, we broke ground on the Labyrinth project.
Each year, we offer several children and adult workshops, including photography, electronic kit building, cooking, tile mosaic, and a Labor of Love Quilt show.
How can you Help?
SCARF welcomes your input, ideas, involvement, and volunteer participation.
Please contact SCARF via email to share suggestions for new arts and recreation activities.
Donations are gratefully accepted, and can be mailed directly to SCARF, 1060 Upper Pacific Drive, Shelter Cove, CA 95589.
A receipt for your donation will be mailed to you, and donations are tax deductible.
SCARF is a tax exempt, 501c3 California Non-profit foundation and all donations to it are fully tax deductible
